Tips for the best yogurt parfaits

Here are some different tips and tricks for making your healthy yogurt parfait:

  • Add a natural sweetener: If you want your parfait to be sweeter, add some honey or shredded coconut.
  • Make your own granola: Try making my homemade granola – it's healthier than the store-bought stuff and way more delicious.
  • Layer your parfaits properly: Add the yogurt to the bottom of the jar or container followed by the granola and the fruits on top. This will ensure they stay as fresh as possible.
  • Mix up the toppings: Put different toppings on your parfaits to give yourself some variety throughout the week.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of yogurt is best for parfaits?

I personally like using plain Greek yogurt for my mason jar parfait. It’s high in protein which means you’ll stay full longer and is super healthy. If you don’t have any Greek yogurt, plain yogurt or your favourite non-dairy yogurt will work just as well.

Can you add more protein?

Using Greek yogurt will automatically up the protein content of your fruit yogurt parfait, but if you want to add even more protein, you can add in some nut butter, nuts, chia and flax seeds.

Should you use fresh or frozen berries?

I'd recommend using fresh fruit for your healthy yogurt parfait. Frozen fruit will defrost and cause the granola and yogurt to get soggy.

What brand of granola should you use?

I personally prefer to make my own healthy homemade granola. It's way easier than you think and has less calories than most store-bought versions you'll find.

Can you make yogurt parfaits ahead of time?

Yes! These yogurt parfaits are great for meal prep. You can make them up to 5 days in advance and store them in the fridge. Just grab one on your way out the door and you're good to go!

You can store your mason jar parfait in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. This means that you have a whole week of healthy ready-made breakfasts with just a little work on the weekends! You can eat right out of the mason jar or dump it all into a bowl.
