Staying well-hydrated is important for every system of the body. Overall function and well-being are dependent upon a healthy intake of water. If adding lemon or other flavours to you water will help you drink more, that is a great reason to start with these lemon water recipe ideas. Also, it's lower in calories and has no artificial ingredients like some flavoured waters.

Does the flavour improve over time?

Yes, up to a certain point! You want to let the lemon infuse into the water for at least 30-60 minutes. The flavour will continue to get stronger, but after about 3 the lemon water might start to get bitter, so you'll want to drink it before that.

Should you drink it hot or cold?

This recipe is for cold lemon water. Hot water with lemon is best for colds or sore throats, but you don't need to infuse it first – just squeeze some lemon into a mug of hot water.

Storing lemon water

You can store your lemon water in a large pitcher in the fridge or in mason jars if you're adding different flavourings. I prefer the mason jar method because then all you have to do is grab your drinks from the fridge and they even have lids on them for easy transport. It will last in the fridge for about 5 days, but if you're adding other fruits and flavours, I'd recommend drinking it within 3 days.
