These are the Best Healthy Smoothie Recipes! They're packed with nutritious ingredients and will keep you full for hours. You can meal prep them, too!

Nutritious AND Delicious!
Smoothies are an easy and delicious way to pack a ton of nutrients into one glass. They're super healthy and quick to make.
I drink a smoothie every day as a snack. It’s an easy way to get my fruits and veggies while avoiding mindless snacking on processed foods.
With the right ingredients, smoothies can have up to 30g of protein, especially if you add protein powder or Greek yogurt. They're a fantastic option if you’re looking to boost your protein intake.
To help you get started, I’ve rounded up some of the best healthy smoothie recipes that are tasty and nutritious!
What can you put in a smoothie?
You can mix and match different ingredients until you find something you love, but I'd try and stick to this formula:
- Protein: Greek yogurt, chia seeds, hemp hearts, ground flax or protein powder
- Fruits: Berries, bananas, mango and pineapple
- Veggies: Spinach, grated carrots, red cabbage, minced ginger, celery and kale (yes, you can add more veggies than you think, you won't even taste them!)
- Liquid: Dairy or dairy-free milk or water
- BONUS: Healthy fats like avocado or nut butter (I usually only do this when I have avocado about to go bad)
How do you sweeten smoothies?
You don't, LOL! Okay fine, if you INSIST, then I'd recommend using natural sweeteners like bananas (you'd be surprised how much sweetness they add) but you can also add 1 tbsp or less of honey or maple syrup.
If you choose to use protein powder (which I do most times I make a smoothie so that I hit my protein intake goals), that will also add enough sweetness that you don't need to add more. This is the protein powder I use.

Is it healthy to have a smoothie every day?
Having a smoothie every day is fine, as long as you're making sure it contains healthy ingredients and you're not using it as a meal substitute. It should be a snack.
I wouldn't recommend having more than one smoothie a day, because you'll be taking in more calories, carbs and sugar than you think and it's harder to gauge how full you are when you're not chewing your food.
Make sure your smoothie contains the right balance of ingredients. Adding protein will help you feel full for longer.
If you want to add healthy fats or protein, then consider adding a quarter of an avocado (81 calories), half a cup of Greek yogurt (140 calories) or a tablespoon of peanut butter (95 calories).
Meal prep tools
- These are the mason jars I use for storing smoothies.
- The Vitamix personal series is great for making just one or two smoothies at a time.
- So is the Magic Bullet or Nutri Bullet – the only hang up here is that I find I have to replace these models once every couple years or so because the motor eventually burns out.
- The Vitamix Ascent series is my fave though – it's self-cleaning so you aren't left with a ton of mess and it's perfect for if you're prepping 3-4 smoothies at a time.
